I have to mention here that everything was kept very calm and productive by my doula, Beth Smith. If she hadn't been there, I'm sure there would have been quite a bit of panic and much more pain, Thanks Beth! If anyone reading this ever wants to have a kid, I strongly recommend hiring a doula. Beth is AMAZING. No other words can describe what she does. I didn't think I was ever going to make it through child birth, but I did and I do owe it to her. Beth knew what music to play, how to comfort me, fed me ice chips...she is truly an angel from above. There is no one out there like Beth and I am lucky to have shared this experience with her and I am also lucky to be able to call her my friend. -Amy
Beth was a fantastic doula! I can't picture the birth of my daughter without her. Since it was a VBAC, I was a bit nervous, but Beth kept everything calm and productive from beginning to end. I didn't have to worry about anything but focusing on my labor -I knew Beth would take care of everything else for me. This also took a lot of pressure off my husband who then felt free to simply be there to support and comfort me. After going through one birth without a doula and one birth with Beth, I now think that every woman should have a doula attend their labors. I know I was so lucky to have Beth with me at mine! -M.F.
